Sunday, August 25, scheduled Clayburn Park fun fly, mostly cloudy with a brisk wind. This improved through the day. Barrie S. was the first up (and proved that he is quite capable of flying in the conditions that had existed for the WCSC) in shifty winds trying to get a good engine run on his Miss B.J. I think he got it. Larry B, unknown plane, Henry H. - Flight Streak, and Paul B. - Nobler, each got in a flight before I dared to fly the revised Eureka.
(Actually I had cheated, I went out to Mission yesterday and got in 2 "test" flights. The second flight was not as reliable for testing because the wind kept shifting directions - like I mean 180 degrees.)
She flies smoother but I needed to widen my handle to get a quicker response. One thing, I think, is that there is less pull than before, All in all the "surgery" was a success.
Hube S. and Denis C. also came out and Denis and I continued our discussion/debate on areas and CGs. In the end we agree that the Eureka flies better and that we are able to get the same CG answers even though we take different routes to get there. We also agreed that the design CG is only a starting point in the tuning.
Hube got in several flight on his Vector, Barrie changed to his profile Me109 and he, Henry, Paul and I got in more flying without incident although Paul tried - he was liking to end his flights in the middle of maneuvers. Denis was having problems with the bladder tank he is using on a very old Mustang the has come through several hands before his.
Today we even had a young family stop by to watch and talk. Most of us went for a late lunch and many laughs.
